Removing or Restricting an Attendee in a Zoom Meeting
Group Leaders can manage attendee behavior during a Zoom meeting using several built‑in host controls. These tools allow you to restrict an attendee’s participation or remove them from the meeting if needed.
Restricting an Attendee
You can limit an attendee’s ability to participate without removing them from the meeting. These controls are available in the Participants panel.
Mute
Stops the attendee’s microphone.
Open the Participants panel, hover over the attendee, click the microphone icon.
Open the Participants panel, hover over the attendee, click the microphone icon.

Stop Video
Turns off the attendee’s camera.
Open the Participants panel, hover over the attendee, click the video icon.
Open the Participants panel, hover over the attendee, click the video icon.

Put in Waiting Room
Moves the attendee out of the meeting temporarily.
Open Participants, hover over the attendee, click the 3-dot icon, then select Put in Waiting Room.
Open Participants, hover over the attendee, click the 3-dot icon, then select Put in Waiting Room.

Removing an Attendee
If an attendee is disruptive or needs to be removed from the meeting entirely, open the Participants panel. Hover over the attendee’s name. Click the 3-dot icon. Select Remove from the drop-down list.
