Understanding Subscriptions

Subscriptions help your organization understand and engage with the members who participate in your meetings. When enabled, subscriptions allow you to collect additional information from members (beyond name and email) and manage how they connect with your services.

What It Means to Subscribe 

Subscribing is a free action a member takes to connect with your organization on HeyPeers. When a member subscribes:
  • Your organization gains access to limited profile information
  • Members can more easily find and register for your meetings
  • You can understand who is engaging with your services
Subscriptions help create a clear relationship between your organization and the members who participate in your programs.

What Subscriptions Are Not 

  • Subscriptions on HeyPeers are not paid subscriptions. Members do not pay to subscribe to your organization.
  • Subscriptions are also not the same as following on social platforms. Subscribing does not automatically generate updates or alerts.

Subscription Settings

When the subscription feature is turned on, your organization can customize how subscriptions work. 

At a high level, you can:

  • Turn subscriptions on or off
  • Require subscription approval
  • Require members to subscribe before registering for meetings
  • Customize the Subscriber Intake Form
  • Customize the Subscriber Survey
These settings allow your organization to collect the information you need and manage how members connect with your services.

Subscriber Intake Form and Subscriber Survey 

Your organization can customize the information you collect from subscribers:
  • Subscriber Intake Form
    Appears when a member subscribes. You can choose which fields to collect and which are required.
  • Subscriber Survey
    A short survey that helps your organization understand member needs and engagement.
These tools help you gather the information that supports your programs and reporting.

Using Subscriptions to Manage Meeting Access 

Subscriptions can also help your organization control who attends your meetings. Two optional settings support this:

Enforce Subscriber Approval 

If this setting is turned on:
  • Every subscription request enters a Pending state
  • Your organization must approve or decline each request
  • Only approved subscribers can attend your meetings
  • Declined members cannot subscribe or attend
This is useful for organizations that need to screen members before allowing them into meetings.

Require Subscription to Register for Meetings 

If this setting is turned on:
  • Members must subscribe before they can register for any meeting
  • If subscription approval is also enabled, members must be approved before registering
  • If a member is blocked, they cannot subscribe and therefore cannot register
This setting ensures that only subscribers and only approved subscribers, if required, can attend your meetings.

Blocking a Subscriber 

Blocking prevents a member from subscribing to your organization.
When Require subscription to register for meetings is turned on a blocked member cannot subscribe. Therefore, they cannot register for meetings and they cannot attend meetings. Blocking is a helpful tool for managing disruptive or unsafe participants without needing to remove them during a meeting.
